Composite vs. Wooden Hockey Sticks
Many hockey players feel very strongly about whether composite hockey sticks or wooden hockey sticks are better. Some love the traditional feel of wooden sticks, while others prefer the lighter weight of the composite stick. Though composite sticks have become very popular since the 1990s when they were introduced, which stick is right for you will depend on a number of factors. Composite sticks are lighter and more durable, but are much more expensive. Wooden sticks are far less expensive, and only slightly less durable.
What is “Flex”?
If you’re buying a hockey stick for the first time, you may be wondering what “flex” is. Flex is a numbered rating of the stiffness of the shaft of a hockey stick, and generally increases with age, height, and weight. Players may also prefer a different flex depending on their position and how they handle the puck. Whether you’re buying your first stick or your fiftieth, the players at Hockey Services can answer any questions you may have regarding the flex of the sticks we offer.
